Tim Neslony is a Strategic Advisor and DoW SkillBridge Fellow at Forgepoint Capital. He supports the investment team on deal flow, due diligence, and portfolio strategy across the firm’s cybersecurity, AI, and infrastructure software companies.
Tim comes to Forgepoint after more than two decades in national security. He most recently served as Director for Cyber Policy on the National Security Council, where he co-authored the President’s Policy for U.S. Cyberspace Operations and coordinated military cyber policy across the interagency. He also served as Senior Strategist to the Assistant Secretary of War for Cyber, shaping department-wide critical infrastructure defense and cyber resilience strategy. Before his time in the White House, Tim was Chief Operations Officer of 16th Air Force, the largest information warfare organization in the U.S. military, where he led AI strategy and directed digital modernization across a 44,000-person enterprise operating from 200 sites worldwide.
Earlier in his career, Tim commanded the 91st Cyberspace Operations Squadron, an elite cyber warfare unit in support of Special Operations Forces. He also served as cyber advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, authored eight national-level cyber campaign plans, and built and led three Cyber Mission Force teams at U.S. Cyber Command. He began his career as a security engineer at the National Security Agency, developing zero-day capabilities through the agency’s premier technical development program. Several of his operational outcomes were briefed directly to the President of the United States.
Tim holds an MBA in Information Technology Management from Trident University, an MS in Airpower Strategy and Technology from Air University, and a BS in Computer Science from Angelo State University. He was a Chief of Staff of the Air Force Senior Fellow in the Blue Horizons Strategic Studies Fellowship and frequently writes on cyber strategy. Tim and his wife Lorin have two kids, Jake and Haley, both attending Texas A&M.
